Project.

ISWA/CCAC

The present dumpsite of Dar es Salaam is called Pugu. The site's deplorable situation inspired the International Solid Waste Association, together with the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, to call for a report on possibilities to reduce the volume af waste to be dumped. The project was assigned to BreAd in 2017.

The work concluded that simple sorting and sieving operations are able to reduce dumping of household waste with almost 80% and can do such at very affordable costs. The proposed treatment method will have a high impact on reduction of GHG emissions and it will produce landfill cover material, RDF and metals for re-use.
